NL Film, known for dramas including Floor Rules, Netflix’s The Resistance Banker and The Menten Case, will work with Wattpad to adapt new Dutch-language projects surfaced through the latter.

The exclusive first-look focuses on young-adult stories for development as series or films and is the latest in a string of similar tie-ups for Toronto-based Wattpad with TV companies around the word.

The firm claims 70 million monthly users and over half-a-billion story uploads, some of which have already been turned into properties for Netflix and Hulu. It recently struck deals with the likes of Sony Pictures Television, Lagardère in France, Times Bridge in India, iflix in Malaysia and more.

“Wattpad reaches audiences that can’t be reached with standard media. The insight we get from the feedback and interaction data of their users is very informative and valuable for the development of new projects,” said NL Film creative director Kaja Wolffers.

“We’re excited to partner with NL Film to highlight our Dutch-language writers, giving them an opportunity to see their stories brought to life on the screen,” added Aron Levitz, head of Wattpad Studios.
