Kids First Distribution will be based at the Boulogne headquarters of Tetra Media, which is owned jointly by Watch Next and Monello and headed by Philippe Alessandri. Tetra will handle the legal and financial back office functions for the new company.

Marie Lassal, who previously had stints at Normaal Animation, France TV Distribution and Mediatoon, has been hired as head of sales.

Kids First will be at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse next week and Mipcom in October with a slate of six new animation series: Max & Maestro (52×11’), Nate is Late (52×11’), Marble Gen (26×26’), I, Elvis Riboldi (52×11’), Best Bugs (52×11’) and Rocky Kwaterner (52×11’).

Equity fund Sofica Sofitvcine, led by Danielle Kadeyan, has invested in the new firm.

Alessandri, president of Watch Next Media and Kids First, said: “It seemed essential to us to unite our strengths in an increasingly fragmented distribution market in order to ensure a regular and high-quality supply.”
