WarnerMedia reboots Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl aired for six seasons on The CW up to 2012

WarnerMedia in the US is rebooting teen drama series Gossip Girl for its HBO Max streaming service.

The series originally aired for six seasons on The CW in the US between 2007 and 2012, focusing on a blogger voiced by Kristen Bell and revolving around the lives of privileged teens in Manhattan.

HBO’s rebooted version will address just how much social media – and the landscape of New York City itself – has changed in the intervening years.

Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment are producing in association with Warner Bros Television and CBS Television Studios. The commission is a straight-to-series order for 10 one-hour episodes.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage executive produce for Fake Empire, and Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo for Alloy Entertainment.

The original series was based on the book of the same name by Cecily Bon Ziegesar.
