WarnerMedia drama lines up Baby Driver star

US studio WarnerMedia has made a straight-to-series order for a 10-part drama featuring Baby Driver star Ansel Elgort.

Tokyo Vice is from writer JT Rogers (Olso) and is based on Jake Adelstein’s book of the same name which reveals the reality of working as a cop in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police.

Elgort will star as journalist Adelstein in his first TV role. Destin Daniel Cretton will direct, with John Lesher, Emily Gerson Saines and Elgort attached as exec producers, and Endeavor Content acting as production studio.

WarnerMedia is preparing to launch its streaming service later this year, for which it has already ordered romcom Love Life from Lionsgate TV and Paul Feig’s Feigco Entertainment.
