Warner Bros unearths Flintstones spin-off

Hanna-Barbera’s original The Flintstones began airing on ABC in 1960

Warner Bros Animation is working with an Irish studio on a spin-off from iconic Stone Age comedy cartoon The Flintstones.

Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs! is being produced by Warner Bros Animation with overseas animation services provided by Dublin-based animation studio Salty Dog Pictures as overseas animation partners.

The show, announced in May as an original series for Turner-owned children’s OTT service Boomerang, focuses on best friends Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble, with Pebbles’ pet dinosaur Dino also featuring.

Salty Dog most recently worked on Saturday Night Live animation The David S Pumpkins Halloween Special, featuring the voice of Tom Hanks, and is currently developing it first animated sitcom.

The Mooneys is a futuristic comedy about an Irish-American family who make a new start on a moon colony. Pete Michels (The Simpsons) is directing.

Salty Dog was founded in 2013 by producer and director team Deirdre Barry and Clifford Parrot. Barry is chief exec and producer at the company.
