Warner completes Eyeworks takeover

Warner Bros Television Group (WBTVG) has completed its multi-million dollar takeover of reality TV giant Eyeworks, acquiring all of the Dutch firm’s operations outside of the US.

The agreement, which has now received regulatory approval, includes Eyeworks’ businesses in 15 countries across Europe, South America, Australia and New Zealand.

Ronald Goes, exec VP and head of Warner Bros International Television Production, said: “We’ve long admired the way that Eyeworks has been built into a global player in TV production and we’re proud that today it becomes part of the Warner Bros family.”

The deal is understood to be worth around €200m (US$270m) and will expand Warner Bros production efforts into 13 new territories.

The US studio will also take over all of Eyeworks’ international distribution activities for formats and finished productions.

Founded in the Netherlands in 2001, Eyeworks is an international independent producer and distributor of scripted and non-scripted content across a range of genres, including entertainment, drama and film. It is known for its Celebrity Splash format.

Warner Bros first announced its plans for the deal in February as part of its international expansion strategy.

It follows Warner Bros’ acquisition of UK production house Shed Media in 2010 and BlazHoffski in the Netherlands and Belgium in 2011.
