Warner Bros buys into BlazHoffski

Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITP) has acquired a majority stake in BlazHoffski, the Benelux formats house headed by former 2waytraffic co-founder Taco Ketelaar.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but it’s the first major strategic step for WBITP since the company took a controlling share of the UK’s Shed Media last year.

Netherlands- and Belgium-based BlazHoffski is best known for reality shows Hello Goodbye, Figure it out and Intensive Caring, plus comedies Tower C and CIA – created by Dahl TV, which BlazHoffski bought out last year.

Former 2waytraffic co-founder and chief creative officer Taco Ketelarr took up the CEO reins at BlazHoffski two years ago.

WBITP struck up an accord with the firm earlier this year when it acquired worldwide format rights to new Dutch reality show Flashback.

BlazHoffski has been around since 1996, founded by Dan Blazer and Erik van der Hoff, and specialising in non-scripted entertainment and reality programming for the major television channels in its native territories.

“BlazHoffski has a strong creative and commercial track record, an excellent management team and outstanding broadcaster relationships,” said WBITP executive VP Ronald Goes.

“As part of Warner Bros, BlazHoffski will continue do more of what they do best – create and produce high quality content that can become franchises and be exported to create local versions in other markets around the world.”

“Together, we will create a powerful partnership, benefiting both from our own business here in the Netherlands and Belgium and also helping us to offer our programming to other international broadcasters,” added Blazer.
