Warner, Berlanti strike Black Lightning

Arrow and The Flash exec producer Greg Berlanti has linked with Salim and Mara Brock Akil (The Game) to make a series centred on an African-American superhero from DC Comics.

Black Lightning is being developed at Warner Bros Television and will feature the eponymous comic book hero who made his first appearance in 1977.

Husband-and-wife duo Salim and Mara Brock Akil will write and exec produce along with Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. A network is yet to be attached.

Berlanti and his prodco, Berlanti Productions, have extensive form with DC Comics IP, having also worked on Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow for The CW.
