Walker showrunner preps border drama

The showrunner on Chuck Norris series Walker, Texas Ranger has teamed up with Dallas star Sheree J Wilson and writer and producer Ani Kyd Wolf on a drama series set on the Texas-Mexico border.

Peace River comes from Aaron Norris, youngest brother of actor Chuck, who worked with Wilson on the entire eight-year run of Walker, Texas Ranger, in which she played Alexandra Cahill.

Norris created the series with Wilson and Canadian film and television producer, executive producer and director Kyd Wolf, who is also CEO of Canadian production company Sugar Skull.

The series tells the story of a former big-city vice cop who, after her husband is killed, packs up her kids and returns to her childhood home, a small border town, only to discover that the move would not be as simple as she thought.

The show will be produced by Buffalo 8, which was behind Netflix’s original film Rodney King, starring Roger Guenveur Smith and directed by Spike Lee.

The executive producers on the series are Aaron Norris, Kyd Wolf and Wilson, along with Matthew Helderman and Steven Adams for Buffalo 8.

“Peace River is emblematic of our times – a TV series which dramatises the challenges of living in a tough border town, featuring a family rising to those challenges with grit, dignity and a humanity that epitomises the American spirit,” said Norris.
