To Walk Invisible: The Bronte Sisters (1×120′) is being produced by BBC Wales and will explore the lives of the Bronte sisters, three of the UK’s most famous authors, and their relationship with their brother Branwell.

The show has been commissioned by BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore and outgoing drama chief Ben Stephenson, who is set to be replaced by Polly Hill.

Moore said the series will “bring the women behind some of our greatest literary masterpieces to life. It’s an extraordinary tale of family tragedy and their passion and determination, against the odds, to have their genius recognised in a male 19th-century world.”

BBC drama Wales head Faith Penhale, who was also in the running for the top BBC drama job, exec produces and Karen Lewis is the producer.
