Vuulr marketplace goes global

NATPE: Singapore-based Vuulr is rolling out its online content marketplace internationally to allow buyers worldwide to acquire film and TV rights directly from distributors and owners.

Launched across Asia in January 2019, Vuulr features premium TV and film content from producers and distributors including Sony, Picture Tree International, Banijay Rights, Warner Media, CNN and Toonz Media Group, comprising over 30,000 hours across more than 60 genres and 70 languages.

Buyers already registered on Vuulr include The Walt Disney Company, Viacom International Media Networks, Super RTL, iflix and HOOQ.

The Singapore-headquartered platform allows buyers and distributors to access mainstream and niche content 24/7, anywhere in the world.

The company said this reduces the time and cost they currently face when discovering and acquiring content in today’s market.

Vuulr is free to use for buyers and for distributors to list their catalogues, with Vuulr levying a commission fee on the seller only upon a successful sale.

As well as traditional flat-fee licences, the platform enables VoD platforms to make offers with performance pricing models based on estimated viewer count, stream length, share of advertising or subscriber revenue.

Vuulr CEO Ian McKee said: “Our unique online marketplace is already helping our distributor and producer partners across Asia and beyond negotiate directly in new territories whilst providing new opportunities and flexible terms for linear and digital buyers and we’re excited to roll out our platform to the global content industry.”

Vuulr’s senior management team are presenting the platform to buyers and distributors at NATPE Miami this week, where the announcement was made.
