Vivendi scores rights to Celebrity Song

The Celebrity Song Challenge launched on TF1 over the weekend

France’s Vivendi Entertainment has picked up global distribution rights to new singing competition format The Celebrity Song Challenge.

Coproduced by French channel TF1 and local indie prodco DMLSTV, The Celebrity Song Challenge debuted as the free-to-air network’s best performing non-fiction show of the summer in its slot.

The shiny-floor format sees celebrities challenge each other on social media to sing live on the show. Famous singers have to tackle a new musical genre, while non-musical celebrities take to the stage and sing live for the first time.

The latest deal follows Vivendi Entertainment, DMLSTV and TF1’s previous collaboration on another shiny-floor format called The Secret Song, which is currently in development in 10 territories with production companies including Endemol Shine and Warner Bros International Television Production.
