ViuTV cooks up Ramsay shows

Culinary Genius

Hong Kong’s ViuTV has picked up more than 100 hours of factual content from global distributor All3Media International, including three shows from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

Produced by Studio Ramsay for ITV in the UK, Culinary Genius (20×60’) is a blend of a traditional cooking format and Japanese-style gameshow. Food variety show The F Word USA (11×60’), which originally aired on Fox, has also been acquired.

Ramsay also features in another ViuTV acquisition, Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine, also from Studio Ramsay for ITV. The two-part special sees him explore the drug’s roots in South and Central America and how so much ends up in the UK.

Secret Chef (4×60’) for ITV, which sees hopeless cooks trained by professional chefs, is another show added to the channel’s slate along with Worst Bakers in America (6×60’), which follows home bakers as they get drafted into a baking boot camp. The show is produced by Optomen Television for Food Network USA.

ViuTV has also added 11 episodes of South Pacific Pictures’ Forensics, which airs on Prime in New Zealand; two-part special Murder on the Internet from Spun Gold TV for Channel 5 in the UK; and The Innocence Network (4×60’) from Pernel Media for 13e Rue in France.

Swan Films’ one-hour doc Being Bipolar, created for Channel 4, which explores the condition from the perspective of those living with it, and two seasons of Studio Lambert’s Body Fixers (20×60’) have also been picked up along with seasons one and two of Lambert’s Tattoo Fixers (24×60’).

Further sales include Our Guy in China (3×60’), fronted by Guy Martin and from North One Television for Channel 4, and Spun Gold’s one-hour special World’s Ugliest Pets produced for ITV.

ViuTV is a Cantonese-language channel operated by PCCW-owned HK Television Entertainment. The acquisitions were announced at Hong Kong’s international film and TV market Filmart, which started today.
