Vien upped, Sabin exits at A+E Networks

A+E Networks has promoted Patrick Vien to MD of its international group, while Edward Sabin, who had previously been co-executive MD alongside Vien, has decided to leave the company.

Based in New York, Vien will be responsible for A+E Networks’ international portfolio and businesses. Vien will report to Paul Buccieri, president of the A+E Networks group.

C21 understands Sabin is leaving to start a new business after just over four years at A+E Networks, which he joined in 2015 having previously held multiple roles at Discovery.

Vien, meanwhile, joined A+E Networks in 2017 as co-executive MD, international alongside Sabin.

In this role, Vien had oversight of A+E’s businesses throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, he oversaw programming strategy for channels outside the US.

He has also been responsible for overseeing the company’s international content sales across more than 200 territories.

Most recently, Vien and his team set up a coproduction division, which is working on the company’s first international scripted coproduction, Miss Scarlet & The Duke, as well as unscripted series Damian Lewis: Spy Wars.

Prior to joining A+E, Vien was president of Pulse Films, whose titles included Lemonade with Beyonce for HBO and the feature film American Honey, starring Shia LeBoeuf.

He had previously been chairman and CEO of Warner Music International, president of NBCUniversal Global Networks and founder of US cable networks Trio and Newsworld International.
