Vidfish bolsters Chinese offering

Singapore-based global streamer Vidfish has added various Chinese dramas to its offering, including web series When We Were Young.

Hunan TV’s When We Were Young.

Vidfish, which offers more than 12,000 hours of scripted programming from the People’s Republic, will offer the show to subscribers on an exclusive basis in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The 40-episode series, from Hunan TV, was adapted from the novel of the same name by Yan Sheng. It is set in 1996 and focuses on the relationship between a clever young man and a tomboyish girl. Multiple subtitles are available.

Other shows on the slate include relationship series Our Thousands of Songs, which will be available across Asia, and love story Granting You A Dreamlike Life, based on Chen Ju Zi’s eponymous novel.

Historical drama Hero’s Dream, time travel series A Step into the Past, relationship show The Best Meeting and Only Side By Side with You, about a woman’s drone business, have also been acquired.

Vidfish, which rolled out into more than 190 territories earlier this year following a soft launch, has also added variety programmes including Children’s Talk Show and Supermom 3 from Mango TV.

The programming will be available shortly after its debut in China, with some shows offered an hour after their Chinese broadcast.

The advertising-free service claims to offer the world’s largest Chinese content library outside of the mainland and says it has secured 150,000 registered users since its soft launch, with the average user spending about 36 minutes per session. It costs around US$3.75 per month.
