Victory wins ITV1 commission

Sony Pictures Television-owned Victory Television will produce a one-off music special featuring singer Will Young for a UK broadcaster.

ITV1’s A Night with Will Young will chart the singer’s rise to stardom after winning the Pop Idol competition in 2002 and will feature songs from his fifth studio album.

The show, to air later this year, is a coproduction between Victory and Sony Music. It will be executive-produced by Victoria Ashbourne from Victory and Steven Lappin from Sony Music.

This is one of the first commissions handed to Victory since the joint-venture production company was launched by SPT last month.

Ashbourne, previously SPT’s senior VP of creative development and international production, was brought in as Victory’s MD.

Its first commission, also for ITV1, was a series of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? specials.

SPT television sales arm 2waytraffic International will act as Victory’s global distributor.
