Vice Studios names non-fiction chief

Vice Studios, the production arm of Vice Media Group, has hired Grain Media’s Alex Moore to lead its non-fiction division in the UK.

In the newly created role of VP, non-fiction, Moore will build the UK slate of Vice Studios’ non-fiction content across factual, fact ent, formats, docs and features for broadcasters in the UK and internationally.

Reporting to UK creative director Yonni Usiskin, Moore will lead the development team in originating non-fiction series, singles and returning series as well as developing lifestyle formats, talent-led programming and adapting IP from across Vice Media Group.

Moore’s exec production credits include I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry for Netflix and National Geographic’s Lost & Found.

He joins Vice Studios from Grain Media, where he had been CEO and creative director since 2016. During his tenure, the company won debut Academy Awards for both Netflix and A&E Networks for features The White Helmets and Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl).

While at Grain Media, he also worked on Nat Geo’s Into the Fire, BBC2’s Seahorse and Tigers: Hunting the Traffickers, UKTV’s Ross Noble: Off the Road and Netflix’s Evelyn.

Moore has also held senior development and production roles at indies and broadcasters including the BBC, Keo Films and Zodiak Media, and was creative director at The Moment.

Moore’s appointment follows the addition of Bea Hegedus as senior VP, global head of distribution in London and Jannat Gargi as VP, head of documentaries in the US.
