Youth-skewing US firm Vice Media has upped one of its long-serving executives to head of content.

Ciel Hunter

Ciel Hunter, who has been at Vice for 11 years, will oversee the company’s editorial and video efforts across mobile and digital, including on platforms such as Snapchat and Verizon’s Go90.

She will also oversee new digital sites being rolled out this year covering health, gaming and travel among other topics, and will work with the fledgling Viceland TV network, which is being rolled out around the world.

Hunter, most recently exec creative director, replaces Alex Miller, who is moving to London to become creative director of Viceland Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Shane Smith, Vice founder and CEO, said Hunter is “a perfect example of what makes us unique,” adding: “Knowing her as I do, I can tell you Vice and our other verticals are in for quite a ride in the years to come.”

Earlier this year Vice appointed former Discovery Networks Asia Pacific exec Arjan Hoekstra to oversee its fledgling channels business in Europe.

Viceland launched in the US and Canada in February in conjunction with A+E Networks and is being prepared for the UK and Ireland in September as part of a strategy to roll out around a dozen channels in Europe during the next 18 months.
