Viasat lands Plane Reclaimers from TCB

Monster Films’ Plane Reclaimers uses access to an aeroplane breakers’ yard

MIPTV: Viasat World in CEE and the Nordics has picked up 32 hours of factual content from Kew Media-owned UK distributor TCB Media Rights.

The four series picked up are Plane Reclaimers (10×60’), Wild Tube (12×30’), Mythical Beasts (10×60’) and Private Lives (6×60’).

They air on the European pay TV operator’s services across Central and Eastern Europe, CIS and the Nordic territories.

Plane Reclaimers is produced by Monster Films and looks at where aeroplanes go to die, using exclusive access to one of the world’s busiest aircraft end-of-life yards.

The show was fully funded by TCB, as was Wild Tube, which is produced by Spark TV and combines documentary techniques with UGC content to bring alive the real world of animals.

Mythical Beasts, produced by Windfall Films for Discovery Science and SBS, blends location filming, cinematic CGI and expert insight to uncover the truth behind legendary creatures such as dragons, minotaurs, cyclops, giants, vampires and sea monsters.

Finally, Like A Shot Entertainment’s Private Lives, originally commissioned by UKTV, looks at the human beings beneath the robes of state and trappings of power and privilege.

TCB Media Rights is at MipTV in Cannes this week with 36 new titles and 220 hours of new content.

Among its primetime highlights is The House of Extraordinary People, which aired on Channel 5 in the UK last month. Produced by Hey Sonny Films, the 3×60’ documentary series, which is also available as a format, sets out to change perceptions of those who look ‘different.’
