Viaplay’s Alex goes global

Alex centres on a corrupt cop’s efforts to quit the underworld

Broadcasters and SVoD services in the UK, Germany and France are among those to have picked up Nordic drama Alex.

The show is produced by SF Studios and Nevision for Nordic streamer Viaplay. It has been sold by distributor About Premium Content (APC) to UK pubcaster and associated streamer Walter Presents, ProSiebenSat.1 and rights owner Polyband in Germany and Amazon Prime Video in France.

US broadcaster MHZ, Chinese streamer My Nordic TV, Canal+ in Poland and Pop TV in Slovenia have also acquired the 6×44′ series, which has been extended into a second season.

The thriller, sold by Lumière in the Benelux area, follows a corrupt cop who finally decides to leave the underworld behind him but gets dragged back in, with potentially life threatening consequences.

The series is based on an original idea from Dragomir Mrsic and Mikael Cross, with Frans Wiklund attached as lead script writer and Alain Darborg directing.
