Viaplay preps kids’ animation/VR hybrid

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has ordered a children’s show that combines animation with virtual reality for its Viaplay streaming service.

Fixi in Playland is the first production from NENT Group’s StudioV virtual entertainment studio and will premiere exclusively on Viaplay across the Nordic region this autumn.

Targeting five- to eight-year-olds, the 20-part animated series features a lively squirrel with a robot arm who encourages viewers to take an interest in both technology and physical exercise.

The show is being produced by Alexander Gustafsson for NENT-backed SplayOne, with the concept having been created by Swedish TV host and scriptwriter Sara Edwardsson.

The Fixi character from the series will also appear as a virtual guide to the kids’ section on NENT Group’s streamer Viaplay.

Fixi in Playland is NENT Group’s latest original series for kids, joining shows such as Saga’s Stories, Peppy Pals and The Great Escape.
