Verizon gets Blue Ribbon treatment

BRC and Verizon worked on sports comedy Now We’re Talking

US telecoms giant Verizon has ordered two comedy series from Warner Bros’ digital studio Blue Ribbon Content (BRC) for its Go90 digital service.

Live-action comedies Golden Revenge and Critters: A New Binge will begin production in early 2018.

Golden Revenge is from Conan O’Brien’s company Conaco and California-based Retrofit Films, in association with BRC.

It tells the story of three pets out for revenge against those who left them for dead. It is directed by Tom Stern (Saul of the Mole Men) who wrote the show with Josh Gardner (MADtv).

Inspired by the cult feature films, Critters: A New Binge sees the alien creatures return to earth in search of one their kin left behind during a mission years ago.

The digital series is produced by Abominable Pictures in conjunction with BRC and is written and exec produced by Jordan Rubin, Jon Kaplan and Al Kaplan.

The new commissions complement the ongoing relationship between BRC and Verizon following their collaboration on sports comedy Now We’re Talking, produced by Uninterrupted, for Go90.

An extended second season of the show was greenlit at the end of 2017.

The collaboration between the two companies continued with the scripted original digital feature Good Girls Get High, an Alloy Entertainment production, which will premiere on Go90 in 2018.
