Valorous TV takes Black Hawk battle doc

A fledgling SVoD service focusing on heroes has taken exclusive rights to a documentary about the 1993 battle between US forces and Somali militia fighters.

Black Hawk Down: The Untold Story will debut on Valorous TV on November 12, marking the 25th anniversary of the rescue mission, in conjunction with Veteran’s Day.

The one-hour documentary film features never-before-seen footage, with stories told directly by the troops who took part in the Battle of Mogadishu, as well as commentary by General Mark A Milley, the 39th chief of staff of the US Army.

It tells the story of soldiers from the 2nd Battalion of the 14th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (2-14) which was left untold in Ridley Scott’s 2001 feature film Black Hawk Down.

“The film finally tells the whole story behind this incredible display of valour, bravery and sacrifice by our great United States military,” said Earl Benjamin, president and CEO of Valorous TV.

It is executive produced and directed by Colonel Randall Larsen, USAF (Ret), who is also CEO of Randall Larsen Presents. He previously served as a professor and department chair at the National War College.

Valorous TV comes from Valorous Media in partnership with C3 Entertainment, which was founded by comedy group The Three Stooges.

It features 1,500 programmes, including movies, documentaries and series focusing on acts of bravery and heroism. It is available via Amazon Fire and Roku in the US and launched in May.
