Additionally, the SVoD service will have a first-look option on Noxon’s feature projects. Noxon will continue producing under her Tiny Pyro banner, with the prodco’s president, Maria Grasso, also making the move to Netflix as part of her role.

Noxon has created a range of series covering multiple themes through female-driven characters. Having written on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Mad Men, Glee and Grey’s Anatomy, Noxon created TV industry-themed drama UnReal for A+E Networks’ Lifetime, working on seasons one and two. This year, two of her projects, Sharp Objects and Dietland, debuted on HBO and AMC respectively.

“Who can resist the allure of Netflix?” Noxon said. “Not only do they continually produce ground-breaking and visually stunning content, they have developed a platform that’s so influential it’s become a verb. I Netflix at home, happily, and now I’m even more excited to Netflix for a living.”

Cindy Holland, VP of original content at Netflix, said Noxon was a visionary creator who “explores emotional depths to reveal the inner lives and struggles of complex, modern women.”

The announcement of Noxon’s deal came on the same day that Netflix announced that Anne Mensah, head of drama at European satcaster Sky, was joining the firm as its first London-based VP of content.

Mensah, who will join Netflix sometime in 2019, will oversee the team tasked with developing and creating UK-based original series for the streamer, as it continues to ramp up its local programming in Europe and the rest of the world.
