Universal gives voice to UK kids in US

The Voice Kids first aired in the Netherlands in 2012

Universal Kids is preparing to launch the first season of the UK version of The Voice Kids in the US.

The show will make its debut on NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s network for children aged 2-12 as part of a new weekly block featuring kids’ unscripted programming.

The first season will premiere on Saturday at 16.30 with the blind auditions, overseen by celebrity coaches including Will.i.am, Danny Jones and Pixie Lott.

The show follows the journeys of aspiring stars as they compete in the singing competition for a chance to win a cash prize towards their musical education and career.

Having first aired in the Netherlands in 2012, The Voice Kids has spawned almost 30 local productions on broadcasters such as Telemundo (US), Nine Network (Australia), Telecino (Spain) and ABS-CBN (the Philippines).
