Universal alum heads for Constantin

German prodco Constantin Film has appointed a Universal Pictures executive as its head of acquisitions and international coproduction.

Starting in February 2020, David Kehrl will join Constantin from Universal Pictures International Entertainment, where is currently director of acquisitions and production. Prior to working at Universal, Kehrl was head of acquisitions and sales at Wild Bunch in Germany for six years.

In his role at Constantin, Kehrl will be responsible for the acquisition of international theatrical productions for German-speaking markets and international theatrical coproductions.

He replaces Sasha Bühler, who is joining Netflix as director of original film for Germany, France and the Nordics, according to Deadline which first reported the news.

Last month, Constantin Film hired ProSiebenSat.1 programming veteran Rüdiger Böss as a producer. In June, the company hired former UFA Fiction exec Tim Grieve as production manager, as it beefs up its production and television units.
