UKTV plans weddings, paranormal series

Multichannel broadcaster UKTV has commissioned an original series for its W network focusing on a world-renowned wedding planner.

Sarah Haywood is The Wedding Fixer

The Wedding Fixer follows Sarah Haywood as she helps couples overcome last minute problems on their big day, such as a blown budget or a wedding dress company going bust.

The 6×60’ original series is being produced by UK indie Little Gem and will be distributed internationally by All3Media International.

The Wedding Fixer joins a growing list of UKTV original shows coming to W this year, including Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over and a second-series of Emma Willis: Delivering Babies.

In other news, UKTV has also invested in an eight-part paranormal series for its Really channel, while ordering a second 12-part season of Help! My House is Haunted.

Unexplained: Caught on Camera and Help! My House is Haunted are both from Brightonpbased indie Back2Back Productions.

Unexplained: Caught on Camera uses a clip-show format to explore creepy UGC footage, from poltergeist activity caught on mobile phones to ghostly apparitions appearing on CCTV systems and spooky creatures captured on car dash-cams.

The new season of Help! My House is Haunted, an original format created by Zak Bagans, features expert investigators Chris Fleming, Jayne Harris and Barri Ghai, who will look into incidences of paranormal activity in apparently ordinary UK homes.

Really and W are both now wholly owned by the BBC, as part of the split of UKTV between the UK pubcaster and US factual giant Discovery agreed last week.
