UKTV obs doc heads for the slopes

UK-based multichannel broadcaster UKTV has greenlit an observational documentary series focusing on the medical emergency teams at a ski resort for its W channel.

Helen Nightingale

Ski A&E will be produced by UK prodco North One Television and focus on the medical teams at one of the world’s biggest sky resorts, Val Thorens in the French Alps.

The 10×60’ series will have behind-the-scenes access to the local medical centres and hospitals, as well as the pisteurs, who carry out rescues on the slopes.

The show was commissioned for UKTV by Helen Nightingale, senior commissioning editor, and ordered by Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, and Steve North, genre general manager for comedy and entertainment. The series is executive produced by John Quinn and Sean Doherty for North One Television.

It joins a growing list of UKTV Original shows coming to W in 2019, including Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over, Dr Christian: Special Clinics and drama series Flack, starring Anna Paquin and Sophie Okonedo.
