UKTV moves for Ultimate factual show

UK multichannel broadcaster UKTV has pre-invested in an eight-part series focusing on the ‘supersizing’ delivery business from local prodco Back2Back Productions.

Ultimate Movers, which will air on comedy-focused channel Dave, offers exclusive access to the UK’s busiest ports, warehouses, factories and delivery companies as they work to deliver extra-large items like brewing silos, circus big tops, ice sculptures and steam trains.

The series, which is slated for release later this year, is executive produced by Back2Back founder David Notman-Watt, Dave channel director Luke Hales and UKTV’s Daniel Thomas.

Ultimate Movers is the latest in a string of Back2Back franchises that show viewers the inner workings of businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. Mega Shippers, Mega Air and Scrap Kings are all currently in their second seasons.

In related news, the prodco has appointed ex-Channel 4 commissioner Stef Wagstaffe as development executive. During her time at the commercially funded pubcaster, Wagstaffe launched Great Canal Journeys and Married at First Sight. She also previously worked as a showrunner in the US on Wife Swap and launched Undercover Boss on CBS.

Wagstaffe’s appointment at Back2Back follows the arrivals in December of Anna Boronat as head of production, Claire Hamilton as senior production executive and Mitzi David as junior production executive.

“Stef’s extensive track record and experience on both sides of the Atlantic is a hugely important hire for Back2Back,” said Notman-Watt. “We as a company are continuing to pursue our growth strategy by establishing returning franchises, such as Ultimate Movers, on both digital and terrestrial platforms here and abroad.”
