UKTV extends Alibi drama duo

We Hunt Together debuted on Alibi in May

Multichannel broadcaster UKTV has renewed two dramas that air on its crime-focused Alibi network for second seasons.

Traces and We Hunt Together will both return for new 6×60′ runs.

Traces is written by Amelia Bullmore and Jess Williams and produced by StudioCanal-owned Red Production Company, whose CEO Nicola Shindler exec produces.

The suspense-fuelled thriller is based on an original idea by bestselling crime writer Val McDermid in which forensic science takes centre stage.

BBC Studios (BBCS), which distributes both shows internationally, has secured a raft of Traces S1 sales to clients in Germany (NDR, WDR and ARD One), Estonia (ETV) and Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay (Cablevision Flow). The series is also available on the BBC First channels across Asia and Australia and on UKTV in New Zealand.

Produced by BBC Studios and written by Gaby Hull (Cheat, Two Weeks to Live), We Hunt Together has also been renewed. Season one of the cat-and-mouse thriller introduced two star-crossed killers, Baba and Freddy, who go on the run from the police after committing a series of brutal murders.

BBCS has already shopped We Hunt Together in the US (Showtime); Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay (Cablevision Flow); New Zealand (UKTV); France (Polar+); Russia (international broadcaster Viasat World); and Greece (Cosmote TV). Airlines Emirates and Etihad have also added the show.

Both renewals were commissioned by UKTV drama commissioner Philippa Collie Cousins and scripted head Pete Thornton, and ordered by Alibi channel director Emma Ayech.
