UK’s 5Star expands reality, factual

Viacom-owned UK commercial network 5Star has ordered a variety of reality and younger-skewing factual content for the UK-based network.

Celebs on the Ranch (10×60’), a follow-up to its recent reality show Celebs on the Farm, is from UK indie GooWoo Media and sees contestants living on a farm in the US.

Elsewhere, Young, Dumb and Banged Up in the Sun (12×60) has been recommissioned for a second season.

The Alaska TV factual series tells the stories of young Britons imprisoned abroad whilst on holiday or living as ex pats, through a mix of personal testimonials, dramatic reconstruction and user-generated mobile phone footage.

5Star is also moving into original drama, as previously announced, with 10-part Clink (working title), from LA Productions.

All three series have been commissioned by Sebastian Cardwell. Gemma Hewlett is the channel manager for 5Star, which is a spin-off from terrestrial network Channel 5.
