Twitch launches streaming gameshow

Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch has commissioned a new gameshow aimed at finding the next generation of online stars.

Stream On from Twitch Studios is currently accepting auditions from online streamers looking to turn their amateur broadcasts into full time careers.

Contestants will compete throughout each week from their home streaming setup, and the action will be followed with a weekly recap and elimination show, starting next March.

Challenges will be designed to test their streamer skills, with a panel of Twitch judges making the final decision as to who progresses.

Viewers in Twitch chat will also play a part in choosing who advances and who is eliminated at each stage of the “friendly competition.”

“Maybe you’ve been streaming a long time and are looking for that one last push to take you into a full-time streaming career, or maybe you feel like you’re just getting started and need a boost to reach more people and show them your skills. Either way, Stream On might be just the opportunity you need to shine,” reads a blog article posted on Twitch.tv announcing the show.

The contestant who impresses the most through their ability to entertain and lead a community in the streaming space will be awarded a prize of US$5,000 per month for a year , totalling US$60,000,  to help take their streaming career to the next level.
