Twilight Zone returns?

US network UPN has picked up a pilot for a drama series that promises to revive the legendary 1960s black-&-white suspense anthology series The Twilight Zone.

To be produced by Trilogy Entertainment, the series will revisit the 1963 series, with a modern take on its tales of the unexplained. The original series, produced by Cayuga Productions, offered a staple diet of time-slips, pacts with the devil, doppelgangers and machines with minds of their own.

The format ran over 138 half-hours, 18 hours, and a theatrical movie. The show gave early screen breaks to many top actors such as Robert Redford, Burt Reynolds, Dennis Hopper, William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.

The new show is exec produced by Pen Densham, Mark Stern and John Watson, says LA-based pilot monitor TVtracker.com.
