TVNZ cuts Larry the Lawnmower deal

New Zealand pubcaster TVNZ has picked up children’s animated puppet series Larry the Lawnmower from Australian distributor Escapade Media.

The preschool show, which originally aired on Australia’s Seven Network, follows Larry as he hangs out with garden tool buddies that include a wheelbarrow, a spade, a rake and a garden hose.

The series, which will broadcast on TVNZ’s preschool channel Kidzone24, was produced by Sydney’s Ambience Entertainment (Erky Perky, Go Go Stop) and narrated by kids entertainer Jay Laga’aia.

In total, TVNZ has licensed 77 hours of preschool content from Escapade. The deal includes Larry the Lawnmower and a soon-to-be-announced series created by Laga’aia for Seven Network.

Escapade Media is a newly-formed company based in Sydney specialising in film and TV financing, production and distribution.
