TV4 replaces channels chief

Sweden’s TV4 Group has installed a new director of channels, reeling in the head of Danish cable operator YouSee.

Mathias Berg will take up his new position on August 25, succeeding Peter Lindström, who will leave the company at the same time.

TV4 didn’t clarify the circumstances surrounding Lindström’s exit but the broadcaster has undertaken a senior reshuffle recently, bringing in a new head of acquisitions and formats, displacing the incumbent.

As director of channels, Berg will have overall responsibility for TV4’s linear and digital channels and platforms, plus distribution, planning, viewer analysis and business intelligence. He will report to CEO Casten Almqvist

Berg joins from YouSee, where he has been for the past three years, first as sales and marketing director before rising to overall boss of the company.

Prior to YouSee, he was sales director for Viasat Sweden and head of marketing and analysis for TV3 and TV6, and before that he ran business development at Airplus TV in Italy.

“Mathias Berg has many years of experience in the television industry, from free-to-view and pay TV to distribution. He has also proven to be an excellent manager, with experience in business development linked to changes in consumer behaviour and technological development,” said Almqvist.

“TV4 is Sweden’s leading broadcaster, and is in a unique position to influence and lead developments in the TV market. Remaining relevant to consumers and advertisers, irrespective of how technological developments change the structure of consumption and distribution, is a challenge that I am looking forward to taking,” added Berg.
