TV2 Hungary catches up with Fittest Family

The original Fittest Family was grreenlit by Irish pubcaster RTÉ

TV2 in Hungary has become the latest international broadcaster to commission a local version of Irish reality format Fittest Family.

The show was originally greenlit by Irish pubcaster RTÉ and is shopped globally by UK-based distributor Magnify Media.

TV2’s version is titled Fuss Csalad, Fuss! (Run, Family, Run!). The number of episodes and transmission dates have yet to be confirmed.

The format has already been sold into Croatia, Germany and Chile.

Devised by James Sexton and Davy Fitzgerald, Fittest Family is produced by Kite Entertainment in Ireland with Animo TV for RTÉ One. It is currently in pre-production on its seventh season and airs in RTÉ’s flagship Sunday evening slot.

The format sees 12 mega-fit families compete in a series of physical tests and challenges to win the title of Fittest Family, along with a cash prize. Four local sports legends mentor the contestants to help them achieve their personal bests.

Planet TV in Slovenia is launching its own adaptation of the show this week and has also optioned the rights in the Balkan region, including Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Macedonia.

Fittest Family has also been optioned in other European territories, including Spain (iZen), Sweden (Jarowskij), Denmark (Mastiff), Finland (Banijay), Norway (Monday Media) and Benelux (Sputnik TV).
