TV veteran Loesch joins Kids Genius

Award-winning children’s media exec Margaret Loesch has been named executive chairman of VoD service Kid Genius Cartoon Channel.

Loesch will provide counsel to new channel president Deb Pierson, who was recently promoted from her role as general manager, as she spearheads growth plans for the Genius Brands International-owned platform.

She now collaborate with former Kabillion executive Pierson to advise on the development of channel brand strategy, expand its coverage and build advertiser participation.

Loesch’s track record for overseeing content has led to the development and production of children’s shows including Smurfs, My Little Pony, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, X-Men, Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies, Animaniacs and Transformers.

She was also the founding president and CEO of the Hub TV Network, a multi-platform joint venture between Discovery Communications and Hasbro, and had oversight of all business and creative areas of the network.

In addition, she was the first president and CEO of Crown Media US, responsible for the creation of its US cable television network, Hallmark Channel, and president of television worldwide for The Jim Henson Company, where she was executive producer of Bear in the Big Blue House.

Loesch became the founding president and CEO of Fox Kids Network, Worldwide in 1990.
