Turner taps IMG exec for unscripted

US-based Turner Broadcasting has appointed a former AMC and IMG exec to oversee unscripted output at TBS and TNT.

Michael Bloom becomes senior VP of unscripted series and specials at the networks, overseeing development and production across unscripted and reporting to TBS and TNT president Kevin Reilly.

Bloom was most recently senior VP of IMG’s original content division, working on eLeague, a co-venture between Turner and WME/IMG that is set to debut on TBS today. He is also worked in development at AMC and before that worked at MTV.

Reilly, who is also chief creative officer at Turner Entertainment, said the appointment was part of his plans to “inject some different thinking in the unscripted arena.”

“I’ve known and worked with Michael for years and I’m looking forward to what comes from having his tremendous energy and relationships aimed at that target.”

He takes on the remit of David Eilenberg, who moved to recently created unscripted division ITV Entertainment in March.

Eilenberg was senior VP of unscripted development for TNT and TBS for four years, leading numerous unscripted projects for the cablenets and overseeing production of TBS’s late-night chatshow Conan.
