Turkey’s End starts Spanish remake

Turkish series The End, which was piloted in the US in 2015, is set for its third local adaptation in Europe this year after a Spanish network ordered its own version.

The Ay Yapim series is being remade by Telecinco in Spain, where it will be known as El Accidente. The show will be produced by Globomedia and will air during the first quarter of 2017.

Local versions have also been ordered in the Netherlands and Russia this year, with Vlucht HS13 (Flight HS13) set to premiere in September on Dutch channel KRO-NCRV, having been produced by Column Film.

The Russian version is being produced in St Petersburg by Russian World Studios for Channel 1, while a local version is also in development in Germany by UFA Film, producer of Deutschland 83.

Eccho Rights distributes the original series and script and will also handle worldwide distribution for the three remakes.

The End was piloted by ABC in the US last year as Runner, but was passed over for a full series. The original Turkish show has been sold to more than 50 countries, including Sweden, where SVT claimed to have made it the first Turkish series to be broadcast in Western Europe.

The End tells the story of a woman investigating her husband’s death in a plane crash, only to discover that he never actually boarded the flight.
