Roger Wyllie is CEO of the New Zealand film and TV channel Rialto, which recently announced a joint venture with media entrepreneur Bruce Tuchman to launch an international streaming service featuring independent film and TV.

With New Zealand having a firm handle on the coronavirus pandemic and life back to relative normality down under, Nico Franks paid a visit to Wyllie’s office in Auckland to ask him about Rialto International, the boom in non-English-language TV and his experience of the pandemic so far.

International television executive Raj Kalra has over 12 years’ experience at US studios and networks, negotiating distribution and production agreements, launching cable networks, greenlighting new programmes and packaging library content.

Having previously worked for companies such as Marvel, Disney and A+E Networks in the US, Kalra swapped New York for South Korea in August last year.

He spoke with Nico Franks about what life is like where he is, just outside of Seoul, and why K-drama deserves the same amount of attention as K-pop, as well as the importance of South Asian representation in the boardrooms of entertainment companies.
