Casey Bloys is chief content officer for HBO and HBO Max. He became president of the US premium cablenet’s programming in May 2016 and in August this year assumed oversight of original content for WarnerMedia’s new streaming service, responsible for drama series, documentaries, unscripted programming and specials across HBO Max.

As part of Content London On Demand – the virtual version of C21’s annual international TV conference, taking place online this month and into December – Bloys spoke with Stephen Armstrong about HBO and HBO Max’s programming strategies, what we can expect to see from them in 2021 and what he thinks the future holds for the global TV business.

Among the other speakers taking part last week were writer Russell T Davies and Red Production Company founder Nichola Shindler, discussing their latest collaboration for the UK’s Channel 4 and HBO Max.

It’s a Sin is a five-part drama charting the joys and heartbreaks of a group of young gay men beginning a new life in London at the start of the 1980s, with the shadow of AIDS looming over them. Davies and Shindler spoke to Michael Pickard about how the series came about, its place within their long-running partnership and what audiences can expect to see from the series.
