Richie Campbell and John Simm in Russell Lewis’s Grace

Filming has almost wrapped on new ITV crime drama Grace, from acclaimed screenwriter and Endeavour creator Russell Lewis.

Lewis has adapted two of Peter James’ bestselling, award-winning novels about hard-bitten police detective Roy Grace, played by John Simm, set in the English seaside city of Brighton.

Coproduced by ITV Studios’ Second Act Productions and Tall Story Pictures, together with Vaudeville Productions, the 2×120’ episodes tell the first two stories in the popular book series, Dead Simple and Looking Good Dead.

Joining Simm are Richie Campbell as Detective Superintendent Glenn Branson and Rakie Ayola as Assistant Chief Constable Alison Vosper.

Lewis and exec producer Andrew O’Connor, CEO of Second Act, tell Jonathan Webdale about how the project came about, the critical process of casting, challenges of producing during a pandemic and hopes of turning Grace into a major television franchise. This interview is brought to you by ITV Studios.
