Former ITV America chief CEO Brent Montgomery established Wheelhouse Entertainment two-and-a-half years ago and has since struck production partnerships with the likes of talkshow host Jimmy Kimmel and, earlier this month, comedian Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud Network.

Montgomery speaks with Nico Franks about the latter but also why the US unscripted business faces its own reality check as a result of the pandemic and emboldened Black Lives Matter movement. He was talking following a panel discussion at the recent virtual edition of the SeriesFest conference.

StarzPlay, the international streamer from US premium cablenet Starz, has recently acquired the second season of award-winning Hulu comedy Ramy for Europe, but executive VP of international digital networks Superna Kalle says the SVoD service is still very much focused on drama.

She talks to Nico about how the StarzPlay strategy has been affected by coronavirus, the shows proving popular under lockdown and making the move into original series for the first time.
