Tsujihara leaves Warner Bros

The CEO of US studio Warner Bros Entertainment is leaving the job he has held for six years after allegations of misconduct.

Kevin Tsujihara

Kevin Tsujihara was confirmed as continuing head of the film studio earlier this month amid a major reorganisation following AT&T’s takeover of parent firm Time Warner. He also added global kids and young adults responsibilities to his role.

However, a Hollywood Reporter story revealed text messages that suggested Tsujihara used his influence to help actor Charlotte Kirk land roles while the pair were in a sexual relationship. Kirk has appeared in Warner Bros films How to be Single and Ocean’s 8.

WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey confirmed the departure today, saying: “It is in the best interest of WarnerMedia, Warner Bros, our employees and our partners for Kevin to step down as chairman and CEO of Warner Bros.

“Kevin has contributed greatly to the studio’s success over the past 25 years and for that we thank him. Kevin acknowledges that his mistakes are inconsistent with the company’s leadership expectations and could impact the company’s ability to execute going forward.”

An investigation is underway into the claims and Tsujihara’s attorney has stated he had no direct role in Kirk securing acting jobs. No immediate replacement has been named.
