TRX hires Audio Network strategy chief

TRX, the online TV rights portal created by Matthew and David Frank, has appointed the chief strategy officer at Audio Network as its deputy CEO.

Juliette Squair joined Audio Network in 2002 and became MD in 2011 before being upped to lead the company’s global strategy in 2014.

She will work alongside TRX CEO Matthew Frank with a focus on global marketing and the management of rights buyers coming to the site.

Matthew Frank said Squair “brings with her the perfect blend of relevant experience in taking a start-up from infancy to maturity together with her passion and enthusiasm for TRX. I know she will have a huge positive impact as we continue to roll out the TRX system to buyers and sellers around the world.”

Her arrival comes after UK broadcasters Sky and Channel 4 invested in TRX’s holding company Dial Square 86. That deal gave the two broadcasters undisclosed minority stakes in the firm, which was established in 2014, and marks the first time Sky and C4 have co-invested in a start-up.

The Franks, RDF Media founders and former Zodiak Media executives, created the deal-making tool last year. It enables rights deals to be completed online and allows distributors to reach buyers in new international markets, which in turn get access to rights that would otherwise have been difficult to secure.

TRX soft launched in Asia last month and already holds 5,000 hours of programming from firms including Sky Vision, Discovery Communications, All3Media International and Hat Trick International.

Its advisory board includes key industry figures such as Pact CEO John McVay, Studio Lambert founder and CEO Stephen Lambert and CEO of Shine International Nadine Nohr.
