Travel Channel goes trucking

The Travel Channel in the US is to air a new original series focusing on a remote truck stop between St Louis and Kansas City.

Truck Stop Missouri will debut on Travel Channel with a special one-hour premiere on Wednesday August 3 at 22.00. It will then air in 11 weekly half-hour episodes.

The series centres on the Midway Truck Stop on Interstate 70, a place for truckers to fuel up and grab food but also home to 12 businesses ranging from a fireworks store to a tattoo parlour. The programme will focus on the stories of tourists and truckers who come from far and wide, and a cast of regular locals.

The series is produced by Leftfield Pictures (Pawn Stars). The executive producers are Brent Montgomery and Colby Gaines. The executive producer for Travel Channel is Stone Roberts.
