Transporters move to Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network in the US is the new home for the latest instalment of the Transformers animated TV franchise, following an overhaul of the series’ original broadcaster, The Hub.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise, from LA-based Hasbro Studios, will see the  Transformers property broadcast on Turner Broadcasting-owned Cartoon Network for the first time in five years when it premieres next year.

Transformers series have appeared on The Hub, a joint-venture from Discovery Communications and Hasbro, since its launch in 2010.

However, last month Discovery Communications took a controlling stake in the cable network and relaunched it as Discovery Family, skewing towards young girls.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise skews more towards boys and is therefore more suited to Cartoon Network’s demo.

The series follows lead character Bumblebee as he step up to become leader of the Autobots following the period covered by Transformers: Prime, which ended its three-season run in 2013.

Classic and original Hub programming like My Little Pony will continue to air on Discovery Family.
