Trace names US CEO

Global TV operator Trace has appointed a US chief to oversee the launch of its SVoD service in the country.

Kenyatta Slade has been named CEO of Trace USA and takes responsibility for the launch of the new Trace Play SVoD platform in the US.

Slade is the founder of internet gaming company Mechanizm, Carthage Motion Pictures and Sirius B. Media.

France-based Trace said: “Slade’s experiences of working with young audiences in the US has made him an expert on how they consume content and use social media.

“He strongly believes platforms and content creators targeting this group must remain agile and super-sensitive to their changing tastes and interests. This is an area where Trace’s competition falls short and one in which Kenyatta will look to exploit.”

Trace, bought by Scandinavia’s Modern Times Group for €40m(US$55m) in 2014, will also roll out new versions of its channels this year as part of its “priority push in Africa,” its CEO and co-founder Olivier Laouchez told C21 at MipTV.
