Telegael, TV3, Imira team for kids’ show

Mondo Yan is copro between Spanish, Indian and Irish firms

Spanish free-to-air terrestrial channel TV3 has teamed up with animation firms in India, Spain and Ireland to coproduce a new children’s CGI comedy series.

Mondo Yan (52×12’) follows the comical adventures of three unlikely heroes tasked with saving humanity from an underworld leader and his mutant monster army.

TV3 will handle development and pre-production on the series, Indian animation firm Toonz will produce and Irish prodco Telegael will control all post-production and some of the pre-production.

Toonz Media Group-owned Imira will coproduce and distribute the series globally. The firms have attached LA-based kids writer David Lewman (George of the Jungle, 3rd Rock from the Sun) as script editor for the 52 episodes.

“Mondo Yan is one of our strategic coproductions for 2019,” said Daniel Lopez, TV3’s head of children’s TV. “The adventures which the characters embark on, and the series’ comedy, fit perfectly with our channel’s editorial line.”

The copro follows on from Toonz and Imira’s recent link-up with Australian kids’ producer Yellow Entertainment to co-develop preschool animation series.
