Tony Mendes dies aged 68

Tony Mendes

Tony Mendes, the iconic TV industry veteran, has died aged 68 following a battle with cancer.

Tony developed brain cancer last year and died earlier this week in hospital near his home in Portugal.

He was one of the most respected and best-loved executives in the business, stepping down as head of acquisitions from TV4 Sweden in 2001 and leaving the industry.

Most recently, he lived in Portugal with his partner Mikael Johanson.

Tony was the very best of us.
